Your First Art Lesson: What to Expect

Nervous about a first art lesson? You are not alone, and it is meant to be relaxed. Here is what a first lesson with Meg Allen looks like.

It starts with you

Meg shapes each lesson around what you want to learn: the fundamentals, a particular subject, or simply an hour with a brush. Beginners are welcome, and so are students who want to build on what they already know.

How long it is and where it happens

A lesson is one hour, one-on-one or in a small group. Lessons are at Meg’s studio in Lindon, Utah, or at your home.

Lessons for kids

Meg teaches kids ages 4 and up. Younger students can bring a sibling or friend for a group lesson at the group rate.

What it costs

$30 per hour for one student, or $25 per hour each for 2 or more people.

Tips to help you enjoy it

  • Come with an idea or a photo of something you would like to paint, if you have one.
  • Wear clothes you do not mind getting a little paint on.
  • Do not worry about being good. Everyone starts somewhere.
